From Frackville to Effingham to Boonville

What a day!
If you are a Battlestar Galactica fan you will understand my excitement when I saw the Frackville sign. It made me giddy.

And then my old favorite...Effingham.  I am not sure which one i like better.

Today we traveled from Ohio to Missouri.  Good news is that is was really an uneventful ride.  Beautiful country and uneventful.  Which is a good thing.  As a matter of fact, Kurt was so bored he started taking pictures with my ipad.  Usually taking the pictures is my job.  The best part was that he didn't realize that the camera was turned around and he was snapping pictures of himself.  It was very amusing.

We stopped at great little rock and roll memorabilia store along Route 66.  We asked if we could bring in the dog and they said "sure as long as you hold her."   Gwenny had a blast shopping along Route 66.

To end the night we stopped at a great little pizza shop for take out.  We thought we would stop for a beer to go along with it.  We drove into the Pop Shop.  Notice the right hand corner of the picture...it had a drive thru!  Kurt was  already in the store by the time I noticed it.  Too bad.

Heading to Colorado Springs tomorrow.

From MA to OH

Here we are starting out at 5:45 this morning.  As you can see Kurt and I are ready to start our big adventure but Gwenny is not so sure.
The scenery traveling through Pennsylvania and Ohio is beautiful.  We drove past rolling hills and lots of farmland.  I was a bit nervous this morning when we started out because of the weather forecast, but as you can see from these blue skies...the rain held off for us.
I had to post this picture.  I look over and Kurt is lost in thought and chuckling away.  I am not sure whether I should be nervous or happy because he is finally stress free!
Gwen is starting to get in the groove.  Okay...not really....Kurt offered her a treat.  Kind of like little Kurt.  The only time I could get him to smile in school pictures was when I paid him.
Twelve hours later we arrived in Ohio.  For a few minutes I thought I landed in OZ or something.  As you can see, this was the clerk who literally signed me in.  Her name was Angel and she was adamant that I filled in my car information.

Day one is done and looking forward to another uneventful day on the road tomorrow.
